The narrator thought a little bit too highly of himself and the structure of the book overall was confusing and just kinda boring. The novel has many random concepts, such as the narrator falling in love with Bernard's girlfriend, him being able to make Bernard's mother talk after she had been silent for twenty years etc. The retelling of the story is intriguing, although the search for Bernard's killer itself was disappointingly boring.
